I’m excited to introduce a guest post and spring recipe from Kendra Thornton. Kendra is often featured as an expert in family, luxury and adventure travel for FOX News, ABC, CBS, NBC, and CW networks. With the onset of Spring, Kendra shared her Yummy Honey Bear Smoothie with me. The recipe uses two of my favorite ingredients, peanut butter and cinnamon! This is a great smoothie for breakfast or as post-workout snack. Thank you Kendra!
THE YUMMY HONEY BEAR SMOOTHIE: THE PERFECT SPRING TREAT
As soon as the sun begins to show, I start to feel the shackles of winter dissolve and my spirits lift. I found winter this year to have been extremely long, and in my eagerness to greet the sun, I start to think about some of my former travels that tended to be more about those tropical memories and treats to get me ready for the upcoming spring season.
It was from a previous trip that I came across the most decadent Yummy Honey Bear Smoothie in Las Vegas. My husband and I had stayed at the Cosmopolitan, ranked amongst some of the best foodie hotels in Las Vegas. One taste of this decadent treat and I seriously felt like a bear coming out of hibernation – that is why I love to make it for spring. It is the most fabulous concoction that is so simple to make. You really have to give it a try!
1 cup of almond milk
3 to 4 ice cubes crushed
2 tablespoons of peanut butter
½ tablespoon of honey (more if you like it sweeter!)
1 ripe banana (I prefer to use frozen)
1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon (When I make this for myself, I must admit I add an extra teaspoon because I really love cinnamon!)
Place the ice cubes into a blender and pour in the almond milk. I like to get the drink nice and frothy before I add the other ingredients. I then add the chopped banana and the peanut butter, and process the drink until thick and smooth. Adding the ingredients in stages helps the mixture blend so much easier. Lastly, I add the honey and cinnamon to the mix. I prefer to give this a gentle blitz before I taste the concoction.
Tasting it is a must. I find that I usually end up adding another dash of cinnamon! For my very own signature touch, I like to drizzle a little honey around the inside of a tall glass before pouring in the smoothie to serve. I hope you enjoy this smoothie just as much as my family and I do!
