Easy to Impress Cheese Puffs (Gougeres)

My favorite recipes are the ones that impress with little effort.  My go-to Apple Tart, was the first time I had consistent success with a recipe like this.  My other stand-bys include roasted rack of lamb and a simple ginger (or garlic) shrimp.  Easy and impressive.  The recipes that make me look good with very little work. I can whip these up for a dinner party on a Wednesday or Sunday, and enjoy our company rather than slogging away in the kitchen.  These recipes just work. Recently I added ...

Multi-Grain Quick Bread

It doesn’t matter how indulgent my dinner was the night before, when I open my eyes in the morning, I want breakfast.  On most mornings, my breakfast consists of a bowl of oatmeal with peanut butter and fruit.  We even pack oatmeal with us on vacation.  I’m an oatmeal girl. The goal of the class was to go over the basics of Tunisian cuisine in time for the many iftar gatherings during the month of Ramadan. I registered for the course with ...

#543Challenge Week Two: 5 Ingredient Recipes

We're more than 1/2 way through the #543Challenge!  I'm proud to present an appetizer, a salad, a main course, and a dessert in the 5 ingredient recipes for Week 2.  This week, I had a hard time accepting the end of summer, but making these apple hand pies made it easy to embrace the warm cinnamon flavors of fall.  In addition to the warm apple pies, I made my first stew of the season.  The white bean pesto stew is ideal for the transition between summer and fall.  It is warm and hearty, but the ...

#543Challenge Week One: 5 Ingredient Recipes

Week 1 of the #543Challenge is done!  It was a fun challenge to keep my recipes to just 5 ingredients but I loved the simplified cooking.  The week one recipes definitely inspired me to bring my lunch every day last week and I ate in for dinner every night except Friday night!  Woot!  The thing I love about these recipes is that they are simple and quick so they are perfect if you are cooking for just one (like me!) or squeezing in home cooked meals amongst busy family schedules.  If you are ...
